D3 vs Audi in head on collision
Taken from another 4x4 forum in another country - as it's D3 not defender I posted it here. The pics aren't gruesome but they are a very sobering and enlightening depiction after event showing the vehicle remains.

I just emailed some images to Mrs Greeni, as an Audi A5 driver and looking to getting a new car soon, this just made her mind up...FFRR it is, though I was thinking Porsche Panamera recently!

Wow. I've been suggesting to my wife that she replace her ageing DII (which she loves) with a 4x4 Audi. Looks like I'll have to revise that now though.

Just goes to show - regardless of airbags and crumple zones, there's really no substitute for mass. Darren

I wonder how long it will be until the D3 turns up on ebay - "very good condition pre-accident".

Sobering photos, one hell of an impact.

Very eye opening Shocked
Having lost some friends in a couple of car crashes and seen some very nasty accidents recently, it does make you question choice of vehicle Confused I need a 110/130 for work but wonder how it would compare?
Wasnt the defender considered one of the best vehicles to be in in an accident? I am sure I read some survey or similar a couple of years ago.

The boron steel is why the fire service can no longer use there hydraulic cutters, they now have to use wedges and a still saw.

We were looking at a new fire engine at a local show and the lads on the engine were telling us all about it, sounds a nightmare now with side air bags etc..

There are places in the D3/4 RRS where the safety shell can be cut where the Boron steel is purposfully left out see here. For instance the bottom of the A pillar etc.

Considering a Defenders bodywork is a series of bolted together flimsy aluminium and a few steel panels ['designed' on the back of a fag packet decades ago] bolted to a ladder frame chassis you probably don't want to know Wink Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]
