2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Fuji White

TD5 speedometer

Hi,
When changing the speedometer on a defender td5 from one that reads in KPH to one that reads in MPH, does the transducer also require changing?

No, it's the speedo itself that is calibrated for MPH or KPH

The transducer drive gear just does tyre size.

If you have a gander on LR4x4 there was a thread where some knowledgable types managed to interrogate the software of the speedo's and read how they work and adjust the mileage, and change them to read in KPH insidead of MPH (although the bezel would still be printed in MPH)

You would have thought that LR, being as they make vehicles that can drive all over the world, would have switchable speedos in them.

Hi,

Just done this, got a UK speedo with mph/kph and swapped it out for my kph only. All works just fine.

No more quick maths whilst approaching speed cameras
