All it can logically be is some kind of short behind the cluster, bypassing the bulb. Is there anything behind that could be doing that?

Odd, on the wiring diagram power is sent to the switch via the dash so if you're getting 12v at the plug on the blue wire it should work. Can't see how its anything other than the earth from the switc ...

Can't think of anything that would do that as standard on a truck that old. Any possibility it has an aftermarket immobiliser fitted?

Thanks chaps. By way of a test ill let the pump run for a minute or so tomorrow morning to completely purge it prior to attempting to start. Should eliminate the head/gasket concern.

Very possibly, an injector dripping fuel overnight, or an injector loom issue

If it was a burst injector seal, the fuel would drain out the head completely

Right, managed to get this done this evening. Simple job, done in 30mins max. As stated bleed valve was in the wrong union.

Purged fine, and started up ok. Cheers for the help here!

So new genuine part arrived today and like stated it does appear the valves are in the wrong lines!
