A couple of things to try before you remove the door card:
Give the lock mechanism a good flush out with WD 40 and re lubricate with light silicone spray
Check that the door is not closing too tight ...

If it is the Mud LED light check your polarity. LEd's only work if the polarity is correct. Swap the wires round after first checking the fuse. Blew the fuse when i put LED into interior light!
