I have compared the chassis mounts for the engine with the same mounts on the old chassis and the positions are the same. Also, the left hand mount fits perfectly. This is why I am puzzled.

I pulled the engine mount on the block forwards using a small rope pulley.
Then I was able to fit the 2 bolts holding the mount to the chassis:
