Had my early TD5 for 15years and it still catches me out on steep hills sometimes, I would say perfectly normal for that vintage.

Hi, in my experience the turbo actuator rod is meant to be stiff to move and you are unlikely to be able to move it by hand, usually a wiggle with a pair of grips is enough to free it off.
