Replacing a Puma Reverse Light Switch
Well I wish I hadn't bothered!

Had an intermittent fault on the reverse light and spliced in reverse camera. Checked everything from the light and camera end and decided it must be the switch. A job I've been putting off for weeks. I'd read that you can do it with difficulty from below but I couldn't even see it never mind get to it from below.

So, Cubby Box out after dealing with 3 spinning RivNuts, floor matting lifted and then removed the inspection plate- 4 self tappers.

Got the electrical connector off the switch but its still tricky to get the 22mm spanner onto the switch with limited rotation so it took a while to get it out.

Now attempted to get the new (Ebay sourced from a reputable 4x4 supplier) switch back in and spent over an hour trying this to no avail. It didn't look as if it had damaged thread. Evil or Very Mad

In the end gave up and cleaned the old switch with some electrical cleaner tested it and popped it back in and now its working again.

The removal of the Cubby box and inspection plate is definitely the easiest way to access the switch in my opinion.

When I bought my Defender the reversing lights worked intemittently due to the switch not being screwed fully home in the gearbox.

It is a little tricky to get to!

Genuine was around 12 quid when I replaced mine so why bother with aftermarket

I used a sensor socket on mine, ideal for the job.
