The slippery slope... (uprated turbo & intercooler owner

Working on the principle that too much is never enough, having now got (and am very happy with) Pete's 170 BHP tune on the van, I'm interested to hear from folks who have gone for the full package and added his upgraded turbo and intercooler.

How easy are they to fit and how much more 'umph' has it provided? Unless I've missed it, there doesn't seem to be much on the subject on here at present.

Thanks for your thoughts folks.

I'm a bit surprised there's been no response to this. Has anyone actually got the uprated parts?

Loooks like I'd better keep saving up...!

I got the BAS remap on my 2.4 in 2011, and it made a massive difference.

About a year later I got an Alive intercooler, and that made yet another massive difference. No changes on the turbo or anything else though.

I can only imagine that the BAS intercooler will be amazing with the remap. Thumbs Up --

Thank you. As someone else has pointed out to me, you get the biggest gains from the remap and additional power becomes proportionately more expensive.

It's still quite tempting though!

Thanks Steve. If I've understood correctly, you reckon the intercooler on its own would be worthwhile for a start?

I have the BAS Remap to 180 with BAS Intercooler & BAS hoses. I have not looked into a Turbo. Mine runs lovely as it is. I also have a Griffin Exhaust. 2007 2.4 90 fettled & remapped.

Thanks folks. The intercooler and hoses are looking more tempting all the time.

Both the 110 and the 90 have Bowler/BAS 170 Maps, Both with intercoolers and Bowler Exhaust systems... Still with CAT and DPF so no legal issues... The 110 has BAS pipework (although I've been unable to fit the intercooler to manifold due to clearance issues)... I've also fitted a lower temp thermostat to the 110 and that made a noticeable difference too... I have all the bits to fit to the 90 as well... Just need the time and will power to get on with it..

IMO the intercooler and hoses are well worth the money and offer a superb cooling solution whilst also allowing the map to produce the optimum power and for longevity you wont be wasting your money.

As for the turbo, again IMO it is a good gain but for the extra 20 BHP you will get, paying approx £1000 is something I would wait to do for when my existing turbo eventually gives up the ghost Thumbs Up

Hope this helps. Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

Quick question but probably not a quick answer, if a 2.4 tdci has already been remapped either BAS, Twisted, Alive etc.... but with the standard intercooler does it need to be remapped again?

Generally when i have read up on this subject its a case of changing/uprating the hardware then remapping?

Mine was remapped by Twisted, but with standard hardware?

Any thoughts, i like the BAS intercoolers but dont want to over write the twisted remap?
