Remote remap or visit the workshop?

One of my friends once described me as being 'fiscally aware'...!

I've finally managed to arrange my insurance to cover more umph, so it's almost certainly time to cough up, but I'm unsure which is the best way to do it.

Given that it's several hundred quid cheaper to have a remap of my 2.2 110 done at Mr Bell's workshop than to use the remote programming contraption, what would be the benefit(s) of going with the remote option please?

Thanks for any thoughts.

As above +
Live readouts
Injector programming + pump learn and pilot learn
Diagnostic ability better than my icarsoft reader
Continuing updates to the remap
Incredible customer service from Pete
The cost may be a little higher but the value for money is outstanding Thumbs Up

£264 cheaper to be exact. Can well over two hundred quid be 'several'? Hmm, apologies if not.

Mind you, that might be my fuel bill to get there and back!

I think you're all convincing me the remote is the way to go, so thanks folks.

That would be my choice but you should get in touch with Pete and talk to him.

I like the option of the remote remap but in truth I've only used it the once.

Thanks, I'll just have to clear the dosh with the "domestic authorities" and I'll hopefully give him a call.

Remote will also give you the option to install a ‘zero power’ map to act as a secondary immobiliser if leaving the vehicle unattended for any length of time.

I thought you had to be careful about reprogramming all the time. I thought you could just remap about 15 times max. Or is that old info?

Maybe have a look at other options if you are just going for a Stage 1. I went with Mike at Dynachip, he comes to your house / place of work.

He did my 2.2 last summer, only cost £250 all in and gave me what I asked for, which was more torque in the lower gears to help me get up the hill to my house.

Thanks for all the thoughts on this one folks. I decided to go with the BAS remote gadget and hopefully the parcel will arrive tomorrow.

Talk to Pete at BAS. He can give you the definitive answer on how many times you can reprogram the ECU.
