Hi All
just bought my SVX soft top, and i am wanting to change the wheels. so two things; 1. if anybody is interested, then drop me a PM. i live near edinburgh, and buyer woulod have to arrange collection. 2. i am looking at an 18 inch wheel with 305x60x18 tire fitted. this will increase the rolling radius to 823mm from 806mm. what are the implacations of this, other than the speedo will read different, and can the speedo be re-calibrated to compensate. i have spoken with the dealer, who have said they will not go near it, as there is a potential to cause missfires and things not work propperly. is what they are saying correct. there is also a 17" wheel option with 265x70x17 tire, this alteres the rolling radius to 802.8mm. thoughts on this would be welcome. also interested if anyone has fitted 18" wheels to a defender? if so, what have you all done. cheers keith |

They will fit and wont cause any of the problems the dealer say's hes talking throug his root
tire on now is 31.7 235/85/16 rev/mils 636.0 New tire 32.4 305/60/18 rev/mils 622.0 when doing 60 you are doing 61.3 Try this link

exactly what i suspected, but not my place to tell the sales man his workshop foreman is wrong. will be ordering my nice bug 305*60x 18 tommorrow i think....

I would like to know the dealers reasoning behind the tyres causing misfires! How does the computer know whats on there? It only knows that the wheels are going round, not how big they are and even then how can that possibly upset the engine management? Boy's a fool. Land Rovers are an addiction. Toyotas are for quitters.

Hi
the dealer recons they had a diffy in with a misfire problem. the diffy had smaller tyres, and therefore a smaller rolling road radius. when the changed the wheels back to the std size, the problem went away. that was the basis of the comments made. once i have my diffy (should get it in a couple of weeks) and have fitted the 305x60x18 tyres, to my 18" black sport rims, in black, i will post pictures. There wont be any problems, i have a set of 900/16 on my puma for off road, and no problems at all.
