When I fitted rear worklights to my DC, I already had a socket fitted to the aux connector in the back (which is also connected to the connector for the trailer socket, by the way).

The DC of course doesn't have a rear door, but despite this the harness to the back still has the wiring for the heated rear window and rear wash/wipe. For ease of wiring, I used the HRW connector for the worklight.

The vehicle had all the wiring for the HRW except the switch (even the relay was already there!), so fit the switch and connect the worklight to the connector at the rear and hey presto! instant solution. Apart from the fact that the symbol on the switch is a HRW symbol, everything you need is there - it is fused, relay controlled, the switch is illuminated when the lights are on, and there are warning lights on both the switch and the instrument panel. No additional wiring required!

The HRW switch is, of course, only powered with the ignition on, which is ideal if the workilghts are traditional bulb type. Mine are LED lights (very low current) so I have spliced the live to the HRW switch into the permanent live to the hazard switch. Worklights now work with or without the engine running.

I appreciate that this is no help if you have a vehicle with a rear door, though.

Do I need a second relay? Should I get a fuse box? Ideas?

Thanks[/quote]

The Purple wire is fused at 20A, the wire from the fuse box to the towing socket pickup connector is 3.0mm2, the spur to C1692 is 2.5mm2

Sorry, I should have made that a bit clearer Embarassed

What I meant by my reply was that the wire gauge and fuse are large enough to support an accessory socket (10A max) and a worklight (typically - 55w, which is just under 5A) without using a relay or an additional fusebox.
