The ability for a CarPlay-enabled app to use a vehicle's instrument cluster display was introduced in iOS 15.4. The app needs to be coded to support multiple windows and, specifically, the instrument cluster. JLR has already done its bit, so it's up to app developers to modify their code. When using such an app (e.g., Apple Maps), the map in the instrument cluster will be provided by the app (when running CarPlay); otherwise, that map will be provided by JLR's Pivi Pro navigation. If you are interested, the CarPlay App Programming Guide (https://developer.apple.com/carplay/docume...-Guide.pdf) has more information.

Interesting - thank you! Thumbs Up

I remember in another thread on here that a user mentioned flagging it up to WAZE support; will be interesting to see if they amend their app to work with the JLR system.

Yes, you'll need to ask Waze. Just to clarify, the changes involve amending the app to work with iOS 15.4 CarPlay and its instrument cluster display, not amending it for the JLR system. It will be compatible with any vehicle that supports CarPlay instrument cluster displays. There's nothing specific to JLR. 1981 Series III 88 Santana Especial

For anyone interested, here is a photo of the instrument cluster display showing a mapping/navigation iOS app https://apps.apple.com/app/navoffroad/id6448929243 that I put together:

and on the main display:

Hopefully, more apps will support the instrument cluster display in the near future. 1981 Series III 88 Santana Especial
