oil filter cover - transit fit?
Does anyone know if the plastic oil filter cover from a Transit is the same as the 2.4 Puma?

Cheers Keith

LR004508 looks to be the LR part number https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r...lter_44996

See https://www.defender2.net/forum/post260254.html Last post, which states Ford part number is: 1303477.

States same on last post of this topic as well https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic47861.html?highlight=1303477

Worth checking on somewhere like autodoc to confirm part numbers.

Thank you Ian,

I had searched but couldn't find the answer, I've now ordered a pattern chinesium one from Amazon as a temporary fit 48 hour delivery and a decent OEM one for if it arrives in time or next oil change.

Just waiting for the new radiator to hopefully conclude my recent coolant loss woes, its amazing I ordered new head etc from Frida at Turners on Tuesday, it was here on Thursday, also ordered a new Radiator, gasket sealant, antifreeze etc from France same day..............

Thanks again

Keith

I changed the whole cooler housing so I could just have the spin on filters like the last defenders. It was dirt cheap and after many oil changes I was questioning the longevity of the plastic pot.

^^ You don't happen to recall the part number for the later cooler housing, do you, either Ford or LR?

The canister version of the oil cooler is LR part numbers LR104386 LR058091 LR081697

See https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r...er_2.2tdci part 1 Oil cooler - From DA -

There are a few cheap ford / LR equivalent ones on the net, but the their quality and fit would be a concern.

There is a topic on here re fitting the new type, I think to a 2.2, and includes ford part numbers, but I can’t seem to find it

Where do you guys see the advantages of the spin on filter? As i always do an oil analysis and a filter check, i am quite happy with the loose element. And the waste is also lower Rolling Eyes

one advantage is you can easy pre fill and fit the filter when you do an oil change. I do that with cartridge filters but it gets a bit messy with it overflowing.

Sorry I left this hanging. I used a spurious part off eBay cost about £50 with gaskets. It arrived marked ford so was happy. The gasket however was hard and rubbish so I acquired a good one. If I remember I had to use some longer bolts too.

I replaced mine as I knocked it replacing the engine. Should have left it off until I had it back in. I was being lazy.
