Interior Light - weird fault
My wife has reported a rather strange fault in the Puma today. As she drove along the interior light at the front would come on then fade out and a while later repeat this and so on randomly. I took the car for a drive after work and found the same thing. It doesn't do it when the light is set to OFF or ON, only when on door setting.
Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused

Never heard of this happening before so I'm rather confused. The only thing I can think of is an issue with one of the door switches. I had to realign all 4 doors last weekend to install the checker plate, so perhaps one of the doors isn't pushing the switch in sufficiently.

Anyone else come across this fault? 110 2.4TDCi

I had something similar a year ago - the interior light would suddenly come on when I was driving and then fade out.

I think I gave it a thump and ignored it. I've not seen it happen since.

I could only assume that there was a dodgy earth somewhere. The door switches are fairly simple things and there's not much logic in the system. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Just an update.

The latest quirk is that when I get out - down the shops - and press the lock button on the fob, the horns sound for a miss-lock. It's very LOUD:eek:

Anyway, I've now traced the fault to the driver's door. If I hold the switch in everything is fine. I've now unscrewed and jiggled the switch, put it back and all seems OK for now. 110 2.4TDCi

Same issue with the interior light, went throw deep puddle and it came on and went off a couple of times! Maybe the truck was shocked to see all the snow melt. One to keep the dealer busy when it goes in to have ABS sensors sorted out.

I was going to say the door switch

The lights run through the Alarm ECU (thats how you get them on and off when you open/close the doors) there are also some good settings in there (or are on the older discos)

The switch is an earth type Mike

Maybe I just had some water get past the door seal and got into the switch
