Not starting and not locking.
I cannot lock my 2009 Defender the door locks close then open, or that is how it sounds.
Also the defender will not start.
The engine turns over quickly but does not start.

What should I be looking at.
Or what can I try.
Thanks

I am not sure but all suggests it is related to the immobilizer. Puma 110" SW

Looks like I may have a us drivers door switch, could that be part of the problem?

Yes. It can cause all type of problems if low. Do the procedure in the hand book. If it works it will be a cheap fix. If not...more head scratching! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

One thing you could do is to lock each door individually from the inside with the door lock button. If they lock your locking mechanism is O.K. Another problem that can prevent locking is the actuator on each door's locking system. But it is strange for them all to go at once. A sympton is the latch trying to go down but won't. That means the actuator on that door needs changed. One door not locking could be, and usually is caused by a broken wire in the wiring at the door. As yours lock and unlock means non of these apply to you. Hopefully the new battery will sort it, but like I said earlier go through the correct procedure out lined in the handbook. Good luck. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Looks like a solenoid fault on the drivers door.
Pressed it down then pressed lock on fob. So it is secure tonight.
Still would not start but I can look at that tomorrow.

I have the front wheels up on ramps just now, started earlier and drove onto the ramps around lunch time.

Thanks

Would not start first thing this morning I though it would be cooler.
Got a hand to push it off the ramps and it started first time.

Is that air in the fuel line?

There could be an leak in the fuel system. The 2.4 needs to suck the fuel from the tank, and if parked with front wheels on a ramp, a small leak will draw air into the system, rather than leak fuel out, making it difficult to start. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I did have it serviced last month.

Also an air leak would sound possible.
