Name recognition?
A mate of mine goes over for the Tour de France every year to ride his bike up the climbs and also watch the race. He’s a huge road cycling fan and extremely knowledgeable about both teams and riders but I had to laugh when he told me the Ineos Grenadiers were driving G Wagons. Outside of hardcore 4x4 enthusiasts I’m not sure if there is much cut through with the brand. WARNING.

Might have assumed it as the rest of the Ineos fleet are Mercs. MLs and C-class Estates. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Possibly but he had absolutely no idea that the Ineos Grenadier was actually a car and I doubt he’s in a minority. Not great marketing by the owner/ title sponsor Mind you I still don’t know what the Visma in Jumbo Visma is. I have been to a Jumbo supermarket though! WARNING.

I'm pretty sure that the people who make up the target market already know what it is, and the people who don't are probably the people who want an SUV not a 4x4 utility.

I doubt that anyone at Ineos lies awake at night worrying about this!

For the last couple of years the Grenadier could be seen parked up somewhere on the course but as the cameras are on the riders you had to know what you were looking at to see it.

The vehicle was primarily seen at the vehicle / team parking area at the start and finish of the race so to be 'seen' and used for promotional shots.

Its is not allowed on the road following the riders with spare bikes on the roof as the UCI has a chase vehicle maximum height rule. Not to mention that riders do still get hit by the cars.

Mini buses and spare cares are used by the back staff to get between different parts of the course to hand out feed bags, water and even wheels depending on the days stage.

The mini buses also transport the bikes / riders on stages where the coaches and lorries cant park up.

The cars and mini buses tend to be supplied by a dealership, wrapped, have radios and tv fitted and have their automatic breaking systems disabled due to the proximity to the riders they drive.

And finally, the sponsorship is on the shirts of the athletes and that is the focus of the tv stations.
