VW Polo Engine Light
My daughter has a 2013 VW Polo with 26k miles on the clock.

We bought it in December, she was 17 in mid Jan and has been learning up until Monday when she passed her test. Car has been out 2 - 3 times a week.

Car has been faultless since we bought it, until today when an engine management light has come on, book says its a "catalytic converter fault" Damn thing.

What all round OBD reader do I need to get? I would like one that I can read and reset the codes on multiple cars Inc my Puma.

Many thanks, this is all a bit new to me, although I knew this day was coming.

My first car was a Vauxhall Nova, OBD what??? 2007 90 Puma - Love it - Best car I have ever owned.

1989 Ninety 200tdi - Love it - Second best car I have ever owned.

1951 80" Series 1 - Love it - Third best car I have ever owned.

I’ve got one of these, and have used on my VW Tiguan a few times.
Not sure if it would work on a Puma though. Neutral
Have a look and see what you think:

Edit: Looks like it could be used as a basic code reader on all OBD2 vehicles.

Petrol or Diesel? I’m betting a T/FSI petrol?

I’d first take it for a good old rip up the motorway probably hasn’t been driven enough and too many slow short trips.

It's a Polo S 60 1.2 petrol.

I have driven it back from her college etc and I have wound it up on occasions over the last 6 months.

But I'll take your advice and take it out tomorrow for a bit of a run. But I think the fault now needs clearing.

Many thanks for all the advice. 2007 90 Puma - Love it - Best car I have ever owned.

Yeah probably needs a plug in, these are bad for carbon on the valves unfortunately too.
