One remote starts working again while the other stops workin
I have a Defender TD5 purchased second hand a couple of years ago.
I was given 2 sets of key fobs; I only used one for the first few months and when the first one (let's call it fob A) stopped working (presumably a dead battery) I started using the other one (fob B).

I was trying to revive fob A; after changing the battery with a new CR2032 it was still not working; I opend both up and tested the voltage between the two test points in between the buttons: I was reading 3V on the working fob (fob B) and 1.2V on the not working fob (fob A), however the voltage measured at the battery once extracted was 3V (new battery).

I went to the car and tried pressing the buttons multiple times on fob A, it was still not working until I realised one of the buttons was making the indicators flash; the second button was still doing nothing; after fiddling with both remotes* for about 5 minutes, fob A started working normally. However fob B (which was working before) stopped working.

*During this process I also swapped their batteries (fob A took the used battery and fob B took the new battery).

Confusing, I know, the only thing I'm sure about is that fob A (which wasn't working before) now works and fob B (which was working) doesn't work anymore.

Have you synced the key fobs ?

Look at this post and try the sync procedure I detailed, it may solve the problem.
