Clutch diagnosis
Can you tell which clutch design you have (old or new) from outside the case? It's probably a stupid question but I've heard LR have still been putting the old model clutch on new cars Rolling Eyes

Could a crappy clutch explain a "kick/clickback" sometimes when changing into 3rd, even v. carefully at low rpm?
... or is that a synchro problem? It's happened so recently and I'm so paranoid, I'm wondering if the ape "mechanic" in Munich trashed the gearbox to "teach me" not to complain about his crap work Shocked

Am going to different dealer tomorrow for the 4th attempt at fixing the handbrake clanking Crying or Very sad

Cheers,
Matt

No way to tell. If you got an exchange already then the part should be reported in their service system (assuming they are honest).

Main symptoms of a neckered friction plate are: excesive slack, sometimes noise at idle, cluncks when stoping the engine, etc. Your chances are: change the clutch assembly and get rid of the transmission slack and keep the gearbox. Output i) no more grinding in 2-3rd ii) to still have it. A good dealer would call to a total exchange including Tcase. Why? It is really a lot of work and a PIA to exchange the clutch because you need to remove the whole transmission, exhaust, props, cross member etc when you do it. Puma 110" SW
