Thought if you locked with key not fob, this would be ok.

On Discoverys and Freelanders, it's possible to disable the internal sensors by locking with the key rather than the fob. Dunno whether it works on a Defender, but could be worth a try? Darren

If you lock the defender with just the key it disables the alarm but not the immobilizer. Or on the rear facing volumetric sensor put a bit of tape over it and use the fob as normal.

Also possible to disable the sensors using nanocom / dealer - it's an internal setting on the ecu

Unless you have central locking, on a TD5 all you need to do is arm the immobiliser with the keyfob whilst the driver's door is open. Then close the driver's door ( the hazard lights will flash 3 times and the anti-theft indicator will flash rapidly). (Source Land Rover handbook)
If you have central locking this procedure does not work although as suggested, locking the vehicle with the key will activate the central locking and immobiliser without activating the interior space protection or perimetric alarm. Tazz |

Thanks guys...that solves both problems.
If it's cool, I can leave the dog in the back, close all doors, and lock the central locking with key only. This doesn't set the alarm. If it's hot, I can leave the back door open, with the dog in a locked mesh cage, and click the alarm fob which locks the front doors without setting the alarm. |

Great forum, I left the dog in the landy today and of course couldn't get the sensor off so had to take the mutt to another friends car which was able to switch off its sensor, now I know and can leave Roxy safe and sound at the next visit, thanks for a great forum. You can't surprise a man with a dog.
