Update

First thing is to thank everyone who replied, much apricated Thumbs Up

As i was thinking about all of the choices of pressure washers i happen to have a spare 5 minutes on Sunday afternoon, so i thought about taking my pressure washer apart as you do to see how it works Wink i took the outer cover off and plugged it in and switched it on and it was making the same humming noise coming from the " electric " part, so unplugged and took it fully apart and found this which was causing the problem, it's called a capacitor.

as you can see it has ruptured Rolling Eyes

after finding this, i went onto google and found a replacement, bought it and it was sent pronto, to which i got it on the forth day, standard post.

New one on the left, old one the right

i put the pressure washer all back together with the new part installed and is working again Very Happy Very Happy

The part with postage cost me £16.50, so i'm well happy to have it working again, not bad for a 15 year old machine Mr. Green 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

My old thread!

Well I ended up buying a Kranzle K1050??
And it’s been superb, no issues what so ever.
Works very well with plenty of power and is user friendly.
Mostly brass parts used so no issues with sub zero temps.
The hose is flexible (Karcher wound me up!)
I also bought the short trigger which is great

As mentioned previously it’s pricey but built to last 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

I've had two Karchers and enjoyed them but my latest one, the K4, always felt a bit low on pressure. This one was bought just over 6 years ago. Last weekend it truly lost pressure in that it wouldn't go past the 'mix' level. I took it apart, inspected all the usual areas and found nothing to provide insight on what part is to blame.

I took the opportunity to treat myself to a new washer and ended up with an AVA P60 Master. Initial feeling is that it's more robust than a Karcher, well thought out attachments and packs a punch. It is quite a hefty unit as well with many parts being aluminium vs. the plastic you find on the typical Karcher.

It was purchased from B&Q and their version is the 'Large' package which provides a few extra bits and compared to the price on AVA's website, a far amount cheaper.

I've since washed the patio and it made quick work with the normal fan lance, which telescopes so no need for an extender. I also gave the cars a wash and liked the fact the gun can be used without the typical extender/lance that most have which was a treat.

Massively satisfied.
