110 hi cap pictures
Trawled through the gallery and can't find any pictures of hi cap 110's. If any members have one, please post some pictures as I am looking to buy one now the disco has gone and would like to compare colours, rear hoods etc etc.

There does seem to be a lamentable lack of HCPUs on the forum (shame as I think they're fantastic). Here's a few I found on LRs for sale:

In the back of LROi & LRA there's regularly an ad for a company that make a canvas cover for the 110 HCPU tub. The 110 is red and with the black cover is easily of my favourite looking Defenders. Simple and utilitarian. White steel rims and no extras. In the words of Andy Pipkin: "want tha' wun".

Yeah, looks great. I wonder how much room there is in the cabin, always used to be very tight in these models, especially now the dashboard imposes further on already precious space. If it's for local work where comfort and a 6th gear isn't important I think I would stick with a simple Series or TDi for ease of cheap maintenance without all the unnecessary complicated Puma issues.

Cheap parts and used everyday, no breakdowns and fires up every morning snow, rain or shine - wish I could say the same for my other modern vehicles I have had in the same time Rolling Eyes

No ABS, TC, EGR, sensors, etc etc... simplicity = reliabiltiy for a Series Thumbs Up Goes up in value and only costs £100 pound a year to insure and no road tax Thumbs Up

I also like the Hicap but have heard the cab is very cramped due to the size of the seats. In my USW they are wound back a fair way and I am far from tall, its pretty cramped in there, the cab of my IIA is like an aircraft hangar by comparison. 2011 110 USW

Keep them comming. Yep, the cab will be a little tight, but the rear load space will make up for it, get the logs, mowers and inflatable tender in the back with engine etc and no need for a trailer.
Just seeing what is around, then the winch, BTG's and snorkel will be transfered from the 90.

Hi Pete,

Here's a picture a my 110 HCPU.

The cab is indeed rather cramped but still I love this machine Very Happy.
Initially I was hesitating to buy when making a test drive but decided to go through and never regretted a second.
As I drive this Defender usually alone space for taking my back-pack and jacket in the cab is not an issue.
When traveling with two persons things can get a bit crowded Wink.
In the end it just depends on expectations.
Fyi, I'm 1m80 tall and spend 2 to 4 hours on the road most weekdays.

More questions ?
Just ask Very Happy Peter,

Some time now since my initial post, had two hi caps in this time, an old tdi and a td5 which have both now gone.
Looking to order a new tdci and was wondering what colour, but want to see the colours on a hi cap rather than a 90 or 110 van body, so if anyone has a hi cap and can post some pictures here, it would be great.
Looking at land rover web page! it seems that all new land rovers have abs/ tc as standard, is this correct.

Pete

My old hicap.... Bought it as a plain V8 110 pickup from the farmer up the road.... typical farmyard maintenance, had a V6.5 instead of V8, and the worlds first 3 speed LT85 'box.... Rolling Eyes

Bit of spannering made this:

And of course, junked the old carb V8 and stuck in a 3.9 EFI....

Wish I saw a v8 when I opened my
Bonnet! Here is my 300tdi in various stages of modification. As I live in the centre of Edinburgh it receives plenty of attention!
