puma wiper park postion
hello

I have a question about my wipers when they are in park position.
they work normal, but when they stop in the park position, it seems they are stopping a bit too low as they are almost touching the windscreen rubber. When I google on the internet I see a lot of pictures with the wipers more or less in the same position as me, so guess its normal? If not how to fix this?

Remove the wiper arms from the spindles and reposition them so the blades are away from the seal.

Although it can also be an indicator of worn-out/loose wiper wheel boxes - how loose are the arms if you try to move them by hand?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Usually this is symptomatic of wear and slop in the drive mechanism, which can be worn wheel-boxes and drive rack (as Martin says above) or wear in the crank mechanism if the motor. Wherever the wear should be, the effect is that the wiped arc increases, and this is most noticeable when the wipers are parked.

Adjusting the arms position on the spindle will certainly work, but you'll likely find that as time passes they drop again until one day when they'll lock up.

Give the wipers a waggle to see how much play there is in the linkage. Relative movement between the two arms is usually wheel-box/rack wear, if the two arms are fairly 'together' but both move, it is usually indicative of wear in the motor gearbox.

The system is tolerant of quite a lot of wear before it packs up altogether.
