That's the setup IRB Developments say they recommend and fit most often. It's on my wish list. I'm just not sure if to go polybushes or original as a lot say the former are too harsh.
I also quite like the idea of fitting spring isolator but want to keep standard height.

I thought IRB use the OME shocks more than the Bilsteins, I hear a lot of people say they find them harder than standard
I'm looking into making the ride less harsh as well but there's so much conflicting information out there it's difficult to know what's best... |

I have that set up but in my 90 and standard rear anti roll bar - personally I feel the set up is harder that original but it certainly makes it handle better. It drives very well but is harder over small undulations. You could always go soft superpro kit to help further.
No matter what you do, I would certainly be tempted to do the steering damper to Bilstein as this on its own made a world of difference to the steering especially when hitting potholes etc. |

To quote Ian Baughan from 2016 "Personally I'd go for the Bilstein B6 dampers, genuine LR Defender springs, an uprated rear anti roll bar (25mm) and a standard front anti roll bar. Both anti roll bars mounted with Superpro bushes.
I've used this set up a lot and is a great all round package. Lowered springs done badly are too hard, and a softer set up gives a nice ride, but limits load carrying. I have had progressive rear springs made, but still ends up getting a bit low when on the stiffer part of the spring."  James

After trying out various setups the above was what worked best for me. Only with genuine bushes instead. i also have the Bilstein steering damper but I don't think it made any difference, good or bad. If I was to do it again I wouldn't bother with that. The only handling modification I intend to add now is the Bowler quick ratio steering box. i wish I had seen that info from IRB at the time, it would have saved me a bundle. |

guilty.
IRB did as above (Bilstiens on original springs and poly bushes (possibly pro bushes not quite sure)) and I've had no reason to consider changing since. the dampers simply make it all a little bit more controlled. it makes the originals feel like they were a bit worn out.
I seem to recall the anti roll bar upgrade was loosely recommended too but I haven't gone down that route. |

I’ve got that set up on my 110 DCPU and it’s made a huge difference to overall handling, it feels more precise and cornering is hugely improved . I have also fitted the standard Britpart bush Kit which has let it down a bit as they’re really too soft .
The Bilsteins have made the ride a little harsher over the potholes but not at all unpleasant and certainly a worthwhile upgrade . I didn’t bother with upgrading the steering damper as read a lot of conflicting opinions so just bought an OEM Armstrong one. My front springs are new standard OEM but the rear I downgraded to the softer 110 station wagon part number giving a softer ride. I did go for the Bilstien damper there too. It's a while ago no and my memory isn't the best. I seem to recall the only notable difference was it tends a go back to centre a little more accurately with a little more conviction but again not a game changer just takes helps take away some of the 'slack'. as noted above it all just feels a little tighter. more car like. |

have had this set up on my 110 sw. for a few years now. and it still amazes me how well it corners. (for a defender)

Just had my B6 kit delivered last week. Will fit with standard shocks on my 110 DCPU. I’m staying with standard bushes as many on here say they’re good enough. Will give feedback when done.
