Bring back the GPO
Two and a half weeks now with no phoneline Mad

Openreach were changing a pole in the village and it snapped off at ground level.
Trouble is the adjacent pole is set in the ground on the railway line side of a fence. And it is that pole which now has the cables wrapped around it. The work started over two weeks ago, but after day 1 there has been zero activity to be seen.

Phone/broadband contract is with SKY.
All they seem to be able to do is get updates from Openreach and have offered to reduce our bill whilst we have no service.
Openreach won't engage in a discussion and refer us back to SKY.
Meantime, I'm having to purchase extra mobile data to run a very slow hotspot so the kid's can do their homework. etc.

Ofcom won't investigate individual claims.

Next step will be an email to our local MP who has fought the case in the past to get fast broadband to the village.

It really annoys me that Openreach can be so slow in fixing the problem and appear to be a law unto themselves.

Bring back the GPO I say.

Rant over.

A young lady in a Mercedes Sprinter decided to take out our village broadband box and it took Open Reach over two weeks to replace it. We were then waiting another week for Western Power to reinstate the power supply. I can fully sympathise with you. Defender 90XS SW

Whilst I sympathise with you and appreciate how frustrating it must be. I actually quite enjoy periods of no electric, water or broadband. It's a good lesson of how much we take these basics for granted. I find it quite an adventure.

Get down the local library, use an internet cafe, time consuming but an adventure.

Hope it gets back on soon.

It funny you say this, I've just started a new project which takes me past a phone exchange which has obviously been driven over. It's at 90degrees completely open and has been like it for over a month with just a bit of warning tape wrapped around it. It surprises me every time I drive past and nothing has been done. James

@discomog.
I like the forward control. If I had that I could sort out the line break myself !!!

@JOW240725
Agree, could be worse.
Don't get me started on water though. We were without a reliable supply for over 10 weeks in the summer as our spring supply all but dried up. At one point we were down to a flow of just 5 gallons a day. The novelty of fetching water from my parents in a 500 litre tank on the back of the tractor and trailing backwards and forwards with washing and for showers soon wore off.

If the Pole is on railway property then Openreach will have get permission from Network rail to enter the property to carry out the work, depending on how close the pole is to a working line it can take sometime to but a block on train services. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Must admit I like those photographs especially the F.C.

I wonder how many youngsters know what the figures 3-2-2 stand for on it.

No we are not talking about some new fangle football team formation.

I suppose I should define youngster somehow so say less then 30?

Underwhelmed by sky and openreach, have a look at the EE 4g router, 200gb month £60 no contract
Or 100gb £45 month

No phone line, no line rental ...
