Brake pedal height adjustment?
Hi all,

Just building up the last bits of my 90 project. As i never really drove the donor vehicle I am not sure if this issue existed originally or if it has occurred during reassembly of the pedal box.

The brake pedal box is very early 90 (VIN plate on sideways) and takes the older series 3 style pedal rubber. Yesterday I refitted the clutch pedal and adjusted as per the manual to the 140mm pedal height. I have now realised however that the brake pedal is much higher in the footwell than the clutch pedal which will make the driving position pretty poor.

There is no way i can see of adjusting the brake pedal height though that I can see. There is a threaded hole on the pedal box above the brake light switch which could potentially have a bolt inserted which would reduce the pedal height. However this does not show on the parts diagram or any any others I have seen. I also think that unless something else changes, fitting something that lowers the pedal will also push on the servo and brake master and result in the brake binding anyway.

The only way i can see of adjusting the pedal height would be shortening the clevis rod between the pedal and the servo. I dont recall this being adjustable. Does anyone have any ideas at all?

I have looked at both my own TD5 and a 300TDi and the brake and clutch pedals are both similar height to each other with the throttle pedal set into the footwell a bit further.
Cheers

That is the clutch pedal adjustment that i have already done. It is the brake pedal that seems to be the issue.

brake pedal height is fixed by brake servo assembly if you have one fitted or master cylinder if not or wrong servo assembly been fitted
