South Africa 2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 SW Alpine White
my Puma has had a tendency to pull left since new, which was somewhat solved by JLR replacing the entire front axle.

But having swapped out my BFGs for Goodyears, the truck has started wandering again.

Wheel alignment shows a 3 deg castor on the left and 4 on the right, so would using these help correct the wandering? Where does one buy these?

The wheel alignment chap reckons a 6mm spacer on the left front radius arm should push the left wheel forward enough to cure the issue, but I'd rather get a better solution if possible.

I am doubtful that a one degree difference on castor from one side to the other would by itself make much difference, in fact I am a little surprised that it is even possible to measure with this accuracy.

You may find that you can obtain 1 degree of adjustment simply on the fit of the swivel on the end of the axle tube, since they are only bolted on (no dowels) and they not fitted bolts.

LR build tolerances are so sloppy that it is not unknown for a vehicle to have a difference wheelbase on one side compared to the other, so it may be that some very accurate chassis measurements and carefullyshimming would sort it out.

Part of the problem is that there are som many things that could cause a tendencey to wander, from suspension bushes to wheel-bearings, from tyres to steering, from chassis geometry to, well, just about anything really. it can be very difficult to pin down.

Thumbs Up my 130 is only a 130 on the passenger side its a 131 on the drivers Thumbs Up I don't think I have ever had a Defender that's had the same wheel base both sides. Go and measure your truck and see what differences there are Thumbs Up 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile
