Spring Rates
I know there are various threads on here but none seem to address the following issue, but please do correct me if I am wrong which is highly possible.

The ride on my Puma HT 90 is firmer than I'd like because is has HD springs

Yes, I could go Alive Comfort but I am not keen on going -1" but maybe that is an option though expensive.

My preference is standard duty OEM rear springs, as it seems the fronts are all the same rate.

Looking at the table below there are two part numbers for 90 rear standard duty springs:

NRC 9449/9 & RKB500280/290 (utility & station wagon)

Does anyone have any idea what the difference is?

I thought station wagons had heavy duty springs as standard, maybe that changed as time went on...

For a soft ride in a 90, Rangie classic springs (police ones I believe?) red/white colour used to be the go-to spring.

I've been looking into this for a while too but still haven't bit the bullet and decided yet as my thoughts are exactly the same as yours

Look on here at all the springs. I'm tempted by putting disco springs on mine. However after recently going on holiday and loading the boot up with some gear it rode pretty nice with not too much roll with the HD springs which were fitted as standard to my 90 station wagon.

So it'll always be a compromise.

Part of me thinks the main purpose of buying the car is to load it up and go on adventurous holidays, in which case the HD springs are good. But realistically I spent more of the time in an unloaded car driving by myself in which case the disco springs would be best.

I ride round with 3 or 4 bags of sand in the back. Seems to dampen things down. Had a nice comfy ride back from B&Q today with 8 bags of topsoil and a bag of cement in the back. You need a bit of weight to get the springs working. Life is short, so have your pudding first

I recently fitted double yellow spring to the rear of my 90 sw and find the ride much better although a little soft for towing seems to drop at the back under load quite a bit 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

I run standard front springs on the rear of my 90 and it’s a lovely smooth ride. Even when I do a wickes trip and load up with gravel etc it still handles the load - 300kg of Cotswold chippings the other day!

Possibly of no interest to anyone, but I have just taken the HD rear springs off my Puma 90 HT and they are both red, green and yellow e.g. not handed, so no green, yellow and white on the passenger side Rolling Eyes

Replaced with standard duty pattern NRC9448 & 9 and I am convinced the ride is improved Thumbs Up
