We have a huge problem with sexual abuse in this country. It's absolutely everywhere in all corners of society and while I have no doubt this just another of the OP's thinly veiled racist ramblings I actually agree that there are indeed links between religion and these horrendous acts. Clearly not all perpetrators are associated with religion or all religious types but an alarming amount of these crimes are committed by supposed 'faith leaders' or against children and vulnerable adults in their care. By far and away the biggest offender being the Christian church. Both Anglican, Catholic plus everything in between. It's endemic. They have committed these atrocities on an industrial scale and on behest of their leaders spent decades covering up their heinous crimes.
It's absolutely shameful and needs to be rooted out.

now I'm sure some of you will try and jump on the racist band wagon but take a moment and consider how often we see Sikhs and Hindus in the news - rarely, yet would it not be right to suggest they're of the same 'race' but clearly have a very different outlook on life?

something is very wrong somewhere and I think it's culture not race. but then making women hide themselves is perhaps a clue as to the issue.

Question

Sexual abuse is a vile crime.

It has happened for centuries and across many different cultures and races.

One must ask why some people are aiming there comments at certain cultures and or race.

How about the sex abuse case by Roman Catholics (dare I say most probably white British?) such as Ampleforth colege here

So I can not be accused of any religious bias how about the Church of England sex abuse? C of E shame here

It is not confined to the UK.

Now if you think 30 is a large grooming gang how about 300 Catholic priests in one USA state? here

A father having sex or raping his daughter and fathering children with his daughter held captive for 24 years. Only 7 children with his daughter and his wife 'assisted' him. That case was in Austriahere Is that normal?

Hindus and sex abuse?

How about over 1,500 children

Quote:

The children were orphaned, abandoned, surrendered, sexually abused, victims of child pornography, trafficked for domestic work, trafficked for labour/rescued from labour, trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation, child marriage, HIV and AIDS-infected children, children affected by natural, man-made disasters, conflict, homeless, runaway/missing, special children or from other States.

Sexual abuse and Sikh community here Interesting point from that report is

Quote:

almost all victims of sexual assault are attacked by people close to them. Their chachas and thyas, mammas and phuphars. Their fathers and dadas and nanas.

So the vile crime of sex abuse is not confined to one culture, one religion, one race or even one country.

Child sex abuse is basically done by people (the perpetrators can be women as well as men) who are in positions of power/influence over the children. Nothing to do with culture or race.

.....as I said - it's clearly normal behaviour (albeit not in my eyes).

it would appear the news has it in for a certain culture at the moment cos for the last few years in the UK it would appear only certain gangs have appeared in the news (so far as I can recall).

it's amazing how much stuff is now the norm. where should I start?

same sex marriage,
boys being girls,

I used to think I was brought up as a 'normal' human being but I'm starting to wonder / getting confused Question

getting confused Question

By a certain culture I assume you are referring to the Christian religion be it C of E or RC

Or how about the Church of Scotland? Enquiry here

Not exactly recent buse

Quote:

The inquiry was launched by the Scottish Government to raise public awareness of the scale and impact of abuse affecting children in residential care between 1930 and 2014.

Now as I have said before women can be involved in child abuse. How about the Sisters of Mercy?

[quote]

Allegations of abuse of children in certain institutions owned, managed, and largely staffed by the Sisters of Mercy, in Ireland, form a sub-set of allegations of child abuse (many of them substantiated) made against Catholic clergy and members of Catholic Religious Institutes in several countries in the late 20th century.

[quote]

All these examples of child abuse in the UK have been well dpcumented in the UK news then there is the abuse by Saville.

It is NOT just one culture/race or religion responsible for child abuse in the UK!

Now accurate figures will always be difficult to obtain due to the nature of the vile offeces.

Quote:

The true number of offences remains doubtful, generally assumed to be larger, due to expected unreported cases of child abuse.[6] Some 90% of the sexually abused children were abused by people who they knew, and about 1 out of every 3 abused children did not tell anyone else about it.[2] The vast majority of child sex offenders in England and Wales are male, with men representing 98% of all defendants in 2015/16, and white, with whites representing 85% of convicted child sex offenders and 86% of the general population in 2011.

Basically in the UK child abuse by white people is in line with their proption of the general population.

Put another way child sex abuse by non whites in the UK is not really out of line with their percentage of the UK population.

Rather then reading the gutter press a bit of quick research will find things like this which makes interesting if disturbing reading

[b][b]not sure if we're on the same page here;

'appalling' sexual exploitation by gangs of men, many of Pakistani heritage.[8][9]
Rochdale sex trafficking gang. See also Operation Doublet, an ongoing investigation by Greater Manchester Police.
Nottingham Care Homes[10]
Manchester Children's Homes[11]
Islington Children's Homes[12]
Telford child sex abuse ring[13]
Oxford child sex abuse ring[14]
Banbury child sex abuse ring[15]
Derby child sex abuse ring[16]
Bristol child sex abuse ring[17]
Newcastle child sex abuse ring[18]
Halifax child sex abuse ring[19]
Peterborough sex abuse case[20]

having had a quick look at the link you provided it would appear the vast majority of perpetrators have a non British sounding name so I'm not sure if you've got your numbers right? and like you say when you consider population percentages it would appear you've got the numbers even more incorrect?.....please remember I'm not a mathematician so I apologise now if I've got it wrong.

Sexual abuse within institutions is one thing and quite bad enough.

However setting up an institution for the sole purpose of trafficking and raping children is another.

Defending the behaviour of a foreign culture that has been inserted into ours, by saying that ours was already imperfect could also be seen by some as thinly disguised (reverse) racism.

Perhaps a robust debate on whether medieval Middle Eastern attitudes towards females are compatible with a 21st Century European democracy would be more helpful than simply making excuses?

Nobody is defending any kind of sexual abuse except perhaps yourself and Caterham, who it would seem would like to gloss over the much bigger problem of sexual abuse in the UK in order to justify your views on muslims. You guys don't like muslims. We get it.

Sexual abuse is abhorrent and all should be prosecuted. No exceptions.

I would be very suspicious of anyone who believes otherwise.

I think what he did has been going on for years, as others have already said, fortunately it's a rare, rare thing.

What I think may have worsened in recent years, and entirely because of the internet, is general levels of paedophilia. Whilst I don't think the numbers of men and women who are paedophiles has necessarily changed (I believe it is genetic mis-printing, much like pyschopaths), I do think the internet has given them unfetted access, which in turn has led to a proliferation of children being abused for profit on the Dark Net. Whilst abuse has always happened, I'm sure there are some Paedophiles who would never have been able to find their way in to the murky, dark underground world if it required personal contacts. Now they can do it online, anonymously, and to a great degree (if the level of the problem is to be believed) with impunity. As a result, kids worldwide are being kidnapped and abused by criminals and gangs to supply this far, far larger need than there was before. And all internet driven.

The internet IMO is a double-edged weapon. Hugely useful on the one had (keeping in contact, mapping, TV, music, booking your hols, news updtes etc), but equally dark on the other (on-line bullying, live suicides, child abuse, grooming, beheading, kids falling off buildings trying to be famous, FB and Twitter depression, self-loathing, self-obsession etc etc). And it's exponential, each and every person trying to out-do the former...

I'd give up having access to on-line flights and Google Maps if it brought our society, it's perversions, sadness, anger, violence etc back down to earth and to what we would consider 'normal levels' based on the interactions of 7bn humans. The internet has exposed the horrible side of humans all too quickly and all too publicly, and as we're easily-led pack animals, it only stands to continue or get worse. The internet is not always a good thing.

I thank you. The irony of course is that I would never have been able to produce such a literary masterpiece, nor you read it, had the internet not been invented. But on the flip side, had it not been invented, tourists (Mrs Grenadier calls them terrorists), wouldn't choose to walk in busy pedestrian zones weaving around whilst staring or shouting at their smartphones. There isn't enough security power to shut down websites etc sadly. Maybe one day though it might happen, as I know internet service providers are locking down on torrent websites. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

let's hope stoning doesn't become the norm / legal practice here as it is in some parts of the word.

https://mic.com/articles/68431/women-aroun...-the-facts

not sure that or the above stories could be blamed on the internet?

chatting to a Hindu the other day we were discussing Sikhs and his words were 'the Sikhs are alright unlike the other lot that are nutters'. I believe he was referring to the characters that in the link above?

going back some years I was chatting to mate (Sikh) whom mentioned he hated the 'Ms' which rather surprised me at the time. It does seem like modern life is largely at odds with some?

crumbs. this is s real of worms and I'm properly confused. I thought in Britain we have British Law Courts but it would appear have a choice. So I guess depending on the crime etc we could choice which is the more lenient, os if you're up for rape let's say you'd opt for the Muslim Court (assuming you're male Very Happy ) and if you've stolen something or killed someone you'd go for the British Courts and get off scott free? Confused ok I've exaggerated, for killing you'd be put in a secure hotel for a little while.
