'Nother 1984 V8 One_Ten
This is the truck I bought 20 years ago.
It looks a lot better than it turned out to be when I got over my initial euphoria and started poking around it.

Another pic, taken that first day, after I had paused to get rid of the scabby white 8 spokes and worn out tyres

To give an idea of the underlying condition concealed by the shiny paintwork. This was what the back door looked like, very weld on every door was in this condition or very similar to this.

Those very early B plate (facelift) One Tens are quite rare.

Well worth caring for, and keeping original (if you can).

There is a famous LR promotional video featuring a Masai Red One Ten identical to yours.

If you are not already on it, you can see it on this facebook page, which is dedicated to prototype and early production One Tens and Ninetys:

Ah the pictures flatter to deceive. It was in a horrible condition underneath. The chassis was rustier than a very rusty thing and, at that time, nobody did replacements for them, all the shocks were dead, the bushes in the suspension ditto, the gearbox LT95 was very noisy, the engine was worn out (189,000 miles,) leaked water through a porous timing cover, the bulkhead was twisted, the roof was split in the same corner as the bulkhead twist, all 5 doors were absolutely rotten, clutch MC was empty and when I filled it the leak was so fast that it was pretty much empty again by the time I got back into the car The bulkhead outriggers were only there out of habit, there was something wrong with the rear tub as well though I cannot remember what it was after all these years, which was a pity because those early tubs are different to the later models, they had a reinforcing bracket just behind the 2nd row of doors, storage bins in the wheel arches and a small step downwards near the light boxes. All 4 prop UJs were worn out.
I bought it out of a dealer's back yard for £500 after a test drive where I wasn't sure which side of the road it was going to fall off, it wandered all over the road and I mean all over the road, it was a very scary thing to drive.

The green wheels and the Michelins (which came from the same dealer for an absolute song) on them were soon replaced with white wheels and Avon Rangemasters (cos I had another 110 and had umpteen spare sets of wheels and tyres for it)
Then I went to Salisbury plain for a weekend, with a friend, and got it dirty.

Obviously I’m massively biased, best looking 110 - right year, right colour, right engine, right spec Laughing

It was a company car for a publishing company for its first 3 years of life. By the time they sold it they had put over 100,000 miles on it. Then it had 4 more owners in the next 11 years and added another 89,000 miles in those 11 years

What happened to it? I still have it. It still has a V8 in it, though it had A 300 in it for about 3 years while I was doing 35,000 miles a year, now it has done nearly 400,000 miles.

This was taken during the rebuild 19 years ago, the colour is eastnor green.

Thank you, I did all this work on it almost 20 years ago, but I took hundreds of pictures while I was doing it. If I get time over the next few days, I will dig them all out and put a few more up for people's entertainment.
