My aux will run my Engel in UK for 4 days no recharge.

IS the aux always fitted? Or left uncharged for prolonged periods?

Always fitted and charged via split charge relay (2 x 110ah) 1999 Defender TD5 110

Those reading are off main bat only?

Reconnect relay see if fault returns

Drop test aux

What's aux Voltage a day after being charged?

hard wire aux to main see what happens, this could drain main bat!

How old is aux. Whose setup is it? Vsr is What brand?

Those reading are off main bat only
Two volt meters.
Volt meter 1 of main battery via cigarette power feed
Volt meter 2 of output of split charge relay - activated via a relay so only shows voltage when ignition on.

Reconnect relay see if fault returns
I did reconnect the switch wire to the relay and could hear the engine tone change and the relay click & battery light on. Unplugged and left unplugged and all OK. I took the view, the issue is relay, or aux batteries.

Drop test aux
No drop test available - will have to see auto spark

What's aux Voltage a day after being charged
Normally good - can't recall exact figure. Currently at around 12.4/12.5v last I checked via voltage display on amateur radio wired to the aux battery feed

hard wire aux to main see what happens, this could drain main bat!
That was a test I was going to do to prove relay or not

How old is aux. Whose setup is it? Vsr is What brand?
Aux batteries 18-24months ish old. Relay is a 80amp continuous engaged by 12v feed from ignition. no VSR
Never had issues before. Had amateur radios, 3 other radios, LED lights, phone charging etc all working fine on rallies without issue. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Checked main battery and getting 14.3v at idle.
Each aux battery is 12.26v each.
All connected up and aux batteries get 13.87v at idle.

Split charge relay re-connected and all appears well so far.

I was thinking, time to upgrade to something with more intelligence? Maybe a T-Max for example? 1999 Defender TD5 110
