Fuel filter bolts changed - recommended!
When undersealing the truck recently I had the steel fuel filter cover off and noticed the bolts holding the filter assembly to the chassis were in a terrible state.

Changed them today along with new washers. The rustier of the two was the forward fixing. The bolts are proper zinc protected automotive fasteners and the truck is only 4yrs old.

I think another few years and getting one or both of them out could have been a struggle.

M8 Washer p/n WC108056

Bolts are about £3 and the washers £1

Done mine a few months back. 2011 build looked like they were recovered from the Titanic.
Replaced mine with stainless bolts and plenty of anti corrosion paste applied. Especially cover the front bolt it gets all the spray and muck. Thumbs Up

I don’t think it helps that the holes are slotted so there is space for cruddy water to sit in there and rust up the bolts. 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2

Yep you're right there. I fitted bigger washers in a attempt to try and stop this. Time will tell. Thumbs Up

Wow, over £3 each for an M8x100mm bolt. Shocked

You can get A2 stainless for less than £1 each.

I haven't changed mine, but I did clean up and well Dinitrolled them.
Never had an issue this way, if I was to change I'd go stainless in this situation as they are nothing load bearing in any way.
With some anti corrosion block they'd be fine. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
