New vcv (Denso) learning wit BAS rrc?
All,

I replaced my vcv because I was experiencing a bit of rough idling. As mentioned in other threads: A bit of a pain to replace, but doable... Idling issue seems to be resolved now.

Now I'm trying to do a pump relearn with my BAS rrc, but it keeps saying that the procedure failed.

Read numerous threads, but haven't found a proper solution (other than keep replacing vcv's until succesful?).

Thanks again!

Sven

Have you tried contacting Pete at BAS via his website?
https://bellautoservices.co.uk/
He was very helpful when I had a similar problem.
In my case recon injectors were the cause of the problem.
Thumbs Up

Haven't done that yet.. Will send a note to him as well.

Just want to emphasize that I'm not suspecting the BAS device to be the cause of the problem, has been working fine in every aspect.

Have you got it up to temperature? Sometimes they are a pain to do a relearn on. If you keep getting the fail to relearn I wouldn't worry to much about it. It will relearn itself over time anyway. Thumbs Up

I’ve never done it on the BAS machine, but on autologic the car has to be to temperature like has been said.

Sven, I've done this procedure a couple of times, always successful.

At which point does it fail? Right at the end? Or somewhere in the middle? --

Just out of interest, I don't suppose you have anything none standard attached to the alarm/immobiliser system?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Engine was at correct temperature (the BAS tool checks this)
Seems to fail at the end. I can then abort or restart (which then ends with again the same message.)

Hope its nog injector related (nothing changed)

Alarm is standard (bbus moved bowever....)

Mine did this. Went through fine once I replaced the PRV on the back end of the fuel rail with a genuine one. The pattern one from Transit parts just wouldn't pass the learn.
It may even be that your current PRV has gone pop and needs replacing anyway.

Yep aftermarket sensors can be the problem too as Mr Zsd says.

Pete gave me a tip to try and drive the car a bit longer and then try again.

If that doesn't work, I can also replace the PRV, they don't seem to be that expensive.

Will keep you posted

I Had the same problem, I must have tried to learn it 7-8 times and it would always fail at the end.
I took Petes advice and went for a long drive as well (40 mins round trip to town) and it seemed to work.

I had the same problem with failing learn process, called Bellautoservices. Pete told me the ambient temp also has to be above 15 degrees.

I'm waiting for spring...

I no longer bother to do a pump relearn after a VCV change, and just let it sort itself out.
