Discovery ECU in Defender possible?
I have a good working Defender ECU on my 15P engine. I also have an unused Discovery 2 15P ECU spare.
I was wondering if I could download the software from the Defender ECU en upload it in the Discovery 2 ECU using the Nanocom.
Has anyone experience doing this, or is it not possible?
If I cannot do it, could a tuning company do this?

Please advise.

Thanks

Frank

There are only 3 types of ECUs for 15P engine with manual gearbox. Older NNN000120, newer NNN500020 and 500250. The newer has the same hardware.
If you have the same type ECU, than it is just loading the right map inside. For short run (like with death original ECU), you can use any TD5 ECU. For all NNN ECUs, there are standard maps. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Here an image of both ECU's.
The Defender has NNN000120, the Discovery2 NNN500030
The Defender is manual, the Discovery2 was with an auto transmission.

You can use the auto ECU as a spare for emergency use, but not for regular use. It is possible to modify NNN500030 auto ECU to NNN500020 manual ECU, but it needs soldering inside ECU (changing firmware, not just maps, adding some missing components). "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
