Spare wheel and tyre different to current wheels and tyres
I've recently fitted Twisted alloys and 285 75 r16 Cooper SST mud tyres to the 110 but the spare is a BFG AT and I don't really want to buy an extra wheel from Twisted along with a matching tyre that will rarely be used and is more likely to be nicked.

Would I be ok to use an almost new 285 75 r16 BFG All Terrain as a spare on a steel modular assuming wheel size and offset are the same as the Twisted alloys? I'd put the odd BFG on the back axle to get home so braking and steering should remain relatively consistent.

Having funky nice expensive wheels, but skimping on a spare wheel is worse than having 5 matching crap wheels!!

I know, hang head in shame and all that Laughing

I bought a set of 4 from a member here at a sensible price but the thought of spend £300+ on a spare wheel and tyre that will be hidden under a cover seems mad and trying to find someone selling 1 is proving difficult.

So - reckon an AT as a spare is ok for a get-me-home job? 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

As long as it is a similar diameter it should be fine for a spare. As far as I know the spare is not part of the MOT and doesn't have to match the other wheels and tyres on the vehicle (if it did, all those cars with "space-saver" spares would be in trouble).

You will need a spare wheel cover to hide it completely to avoid the shame of having blingy wheels on the ground and a cheapskate spare, however! Rolling with laughter

Ive got a same size steel wheel on the back of mine with a matching tyre. Wasnt buying another Bowler just for "bling"

I am normally one for matching sets, Just bang a cheap tyre on the back, which is the same profile as the other four, When you come around to change the 4 again, just bang the best tyre out your 4 on the spare Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

That's what I've done - and totally agree on the total madness of spending that much money on something under a cover

as long as the rolling circumference is the same then it'll be fine. I was lucky and found a company that do a very cheap AT tyre exactly the same as my huge Cooper Discoverer tyres - for a bargain £100 for wheel and tyre instead of nearly £200 for just the tyre Laughing 2013 Discovery 4 HSE Lux | 2001 Defender 90 TD5 | 2007 Prodrive RB320
