United Kingdom 1995 Defender 110 300 Tdi CSW Epsom Green
Johnny,

I have shoe horned everything into the space under the passenger seat.

The picture below shows roughly how but without all the cabling completed:

The split charge relay is on the side to the left of my hand in the photo. It is a tight fit to change fuses but thankfully this has not turned out to be an issue.

This photo shows the position of the Split charge and ignition switched relays:

My defender already had caravan electrics installed with an ignition fed live already under the passenger seat and as I don't tow a caravan I have borrowed that to serve as my feed to the Relay for the switched circuits.

The second battery is a 60A battery which should power the radios for a good number of hours if required and the fridge for about 10 hours (if the radios aren't used).

There are cubby boxes available with covered radio slots if you want a stealth install out of sight, alternatively on that radio you can mount the Control Head somewhere useful and easily remove it whilst the main unit is tucked out of sight. I have the FT8900-R and the main unit is bolted to the rear of the cubby box and the Control Head has a Bracket on the front edge of the Cubby box where it can be removed if required.

Hope this helps.
