Side access to seat box?
I'm sure I've seen someone with this, but has anyone made/fitted anything to access the under seat boxes from the side?

Any things I need to watch out for?

I currently store more compressor under the driver's seat and would like easier access to it without having to take the seat base and access hatch off. Mercedes Sprinters have a cubby under there from what I remember.

Stiffness is what you should watch out for - the seat box gets it's stiffnes fromm the sheeting
If you cut a hole in it or remove a part all together to add a drawer or hatch it will have an effect

not in every day use... but in case of an accident

Cupboard, I think you may have seen this here. It is not really a sideways access panel to the seatbox interior, but it replaces the seatbox side to install relays, fuses, etc. in an easily accessible position. I cannot recall to have seen a real sideways access panel into the seat box on here.

in the example above, the stiffness of the side sheeting is replaced by the cupboard... so it's still there
it you really make a hatch to access the full inside of the seatbox, you will lose stiffness...

But you can make a stuirdy frame around the hatch of course

I so wish I knew about that side fuse box!! Such a neat and tidy solution, especially in a 110.

I agree it's a neat solution. But sorry I don't understand, why "especially in a 110"? Its the same seat box on a 90 and 130.

I think Entreq is one of those where if you have to ask you can't afford it anyway. Laughing

In a 90 you can mount a fuse box on the middle bulkhead, you cant in a 110. Has to be in the battery box or elsewhere.

I wonder if they do a version for the battery terminals as well? That would be super. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier
