RDX LED Rear Tail/ Stop Lights - TD5
Hi all,

Following numerous positive reviews on the forum, I installed an RDX full LED kit to my 2001 TD5 at weekend.

Nearly everything went together easily and I can't believe how much of a difference it has made to the 90! Thumbs Up just need to swap the old rectangle reverse and fog lights for NAS style round ones this weekend as I ran out of time Rolling Eyes

The only problem I had is on every other light the yellow insert went into the plug and then you pushed both connectors together until they clicked home however for some reason the rear stop/ tail lights wouldn't click together with the yellow insert in the plug and would only click in without them.

This was only on both stop/ tail lights and with both connectors all installed correctly but utilising the yellow inserts meant I couldn't get them to click home together. Only thing I noticed differently on these 2 lights was in the connectors on the Defender they appeared to have a grey inner sleeve in the plug which seems to meet with the yellow insert and is what is preventing the 2 from connecting.

I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong but has anybody else come across this issue before and if so how did you get around it?

I've conducted various searches but can only find reviews and comparisons between RDX and Wipac etc.

I may be wrong but have you tried putting the yellow insert in the other way up? Ray

No I just put it in the same way as all the others, sidelights and indicators etc

As far as I recall they would only go in 1 way mk1

It's a long time since I put my Nas lights on but I remember the yellow bits only went one way but with the stop/tail lights having more wires it might fit slightly different? Feel free to ignore me I'm just trying to think of anyway it might not fit Rolling with laughter Ray

Rolling with laughter sorry mate it's only the rear fog and reverse going NAS, all the rest are just standard size Thumbs Up

The stop/ tail lights do have an extra black wire in and everything all connected as it should, it's just that with the yellow inserts in they won't click together but will click together without them however I don't want to risk shorting the lights

I had the rdx lights in before my Nas ones but I've just got a niggling thought in the back of my memory that I got the yellow bit the wrong way up and had the same problem. I was a long time ago and my memory is rubbish so I'm probably wrong Rolling with laughter Ray

I'm sure they would only go together one way but I'll check it out Thumbs Up

I have the RDX lights on my Defender; including the NAS lights.

I know the inserts you mention as I had to fit them; I can't remember having any problems and they all went together without a problem (no bits left over). Have you pushed the yellow insert all the way home?

I’ve fitted RDX NAS lights all round - I had so many problems with the two tail / brake lights not clipping together I sacked them off and soldered the wires together in the end. I actually had to replace one of them yesterday as it had failed ( the light not the solder) same red , black and white wires on the led lamps but I had to rewrire them differently than the previous light - took ages to find the right combination!

Thanks Beeder, so I'm not the only one then...

Don't understand it as literally every other one went together perfect like they were genuine LR items but the 2 stop/ tail lights just aren't playing ball!
