Burglar stabbed to death by a 71 year old man
A 78-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a suspected burglar was stabbed to death in the mans home.
The 78-year-old was attacked by a burglar with a screwdriver and defended himself and during the struggle, the burglar was stabbed.

Personally, I feel this man defended himself and hard blo*dy luck to the low life burglar. Yet again it shows how you cannot defend yourself against thugs in your own home. Probably the other burglar who accompanied the dead one and is now at large, when captured will probably sue for compensation for stress and trauma having his scummy mate killed. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

He should be made a national hero.

The burglars broke into his house with no concern for his health or property to break the law and one of them gets stabbed and dies oh dear what a shame.

That poor old man was in his own home minding his own business and all he did was defend what was his and now he is on the wrong side of the law, that is immoral.

Let’s hope the good people of the country get behind this gentleman and he is released without charge as it was surely self defence? 2015 HT XS 90

I feel this thread is somewhat racist against scumbag low lifes........

I certainly don't mind Very Happy and will even stick my neck out and agree with you.

medals for the old man as he's removed a scum bag from the streets who lets be honest, if they're prepared to break in it's quite possible they're prepared to kill to make their get away.

Thumbs Up

I sincerly hope that he was Just taken for questioning and not arrested.

In these cases the police should ”presume innocense” even more than in regular cases. Allthough i understand that this needs to be investigated a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

We should maybe reserve judgement until all the facts are known but it does seem unjust, on the face of it, that having been threatened with a weapon then turning the tables on the attacker and wounding one of them in the process, the "victim" is arrested for GBH.

Perhaps the police suspect that there is more to it than a burglary, perhaps there is reason to suggest something else was going on. At the very least they probably need to check all the evidence before coming to the conclusion that some of the press reports want us to come to. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

It is a homicide others may confirm but I understand the police have to arrest you to take you in to question you in such a case.
I hope that if this is a self defence case then no action is decided on by the CPS. It would be the unlucky consequence for the burglar here going armed and equipped to steal. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

I hope that the CPS will not prosecute as it would not be in the public interest.

However because of the actions of the burglars a man now has the death of another preying on his mind for the rest of his life.

No matter how we may believe that would be no problem, justified as we think it was, in the middle of the night it's another matter.

Heard he was first arrested for a lesser offence, ABH? but then further arrested for murder.

Now correct me if I am wrong but isn't the criteria for murder that the action of killing the victim was premeditated & intentional? In which case he must have invited the burglars there with the express intention of killing one or both of them!

OK so we don't know all the facts but on the face of it an old man has been held hostage by an intruder less than half his age & after a struggle has stabbed him in self defence.

If this was a genuine burglar who was stabbed in self defence then give the old boy a medal Thumbs Up

For some reason we operate a "criminal" justice system and not a "victim" justice system.

Explains it all.
