wipers... wash & 5x wipe disable?
You know how it is... press the windcreen wash button, you get the required spray of water followed by 5 automatic windscreen wipes. First two clean the windscreen, following three smear it back to worse than what it was when you started.

Is it possible to disable the auto five wipe feature? I.e. washer button just sprays washer fluid. I'll then administer the amount of wipes required manually using the wiper control.

It's fancy dross like this that really lets this Defender down... that and electric windows and central locking... all gimmicks! Very Happy

Look at this thread. aka the 99 mod. I've done this myself. I you spray really short the wiper doesn't move.

If you replace the standard wiper relay with a '99' variable one then it does just 3 wipes, which is just about right. Plus you get the ability to adjust the intermittent time.

The thread here gives you all the details. Dave

That relay is worth its weight in gold. Use the variable intermittent all the time.

If you have a Defender that doesn't have rear wash/wipe (such as my double cab) an option is to use the redundant RWW wiring instead of the stalk control.

If you fit the rear wash push button switch to the dash, connect the wiring that it already there for the function, fit one fuse in the appropriate empty slot in the CJB fuse box, and connect the rear pump connector tot he pump on the reservoir in place of the screenwash connector, you can have a squirt which is completely independent of the wipers.

it may not be what you want, but I tried this when testing the wiring to use for my headlamp squirters which will run of the otherwise unused rear wash wiring. It is of course no help at all if you have a rear door with wash/wipe!

another vote for the VW 99 relay here, I found mine on ebay by typing just that into the search

The wash pattern is just about perfect... and as others say the programmable wipe is a godsend in light rain
