ECU
Want to get a spare ECU for my buggy, are defender and disco ECU'S the same? everything for sale seems to be for a disco

NO, they're different.

Although a disco ECU will work on a defender, and vica~versa, you get lots of errors, and the temparature guage reads back to front.

Depending on what ecu you have fitted as standard some of the disco ecus can be converted.

Do you have a standard part number from your ecu ?

Pete, could you list up what the associated ECU's are that can be converted please?

Do you mean that a later flashable type defender can be fitted with a (converted) disco one?

What sort of £££ is it to convert a disco ECU? does it become a flashable defender typen then? trying to find a defender ECU at a decent price is nigh on impossible!

NNN500020 def/dis manual
NNN500030 dis auto
NNN000130 dis auto
NNN000250 dis manual.

All above flashable. MSB?????? non flash part numbers are a different deal, though i can convert.

Cheers for help will contact you soon with part no's motor is away at the moment.

the ecu that came with the doner car was d2 auto which has now had a new ashcroft auto box, engine has been rewired to a defender loom. At the moment have 3 ecu's two d2 auto's 1 nnn 1 msb and a defender ecu i have borrowed to run car

Yes with exepction of the ????30 and 000250, though can be made to work but its more complex to get correct.
