Td5 vibrations
Hi,my først question here,have driven LR for more than 35 years,my present LR is a 2001 110 td5 bus with 160000km .It has ben fittet with complet new driveline : dualmass flywheel ,Valero clutch ,r380 with HD 5 gear,Lt 230 with 1:22 gearing both from Ascroft, original gearbox mounts. Now I have bad vibrations about 2000/ 2200 Rpm in 5 gear,sometimes so bad that stering wheel and interior vibrates ,sometimes not so bad but there. In lower gear is nothing ( I imagine I can feel a little in 4 gear at 2000/2200 rpm,but not shure) I can take it in 5 gear from 1300 rpm nice and quit up with no problems and the vibrations vil come at about 2000 rpm .Any god idears ?

Hi Johnny. How irritating.

So speed related vibrations are usually a wheel balancing issue.

However, it could also be;

    Worn wheel bearings,
    Worn bushes,
    Worn propshaft universal joint(s),
    Lost propshaft balancing weight,
    Worn shock absorber(s),
    TD5 crank pulley (or the harmonic balancing part of it),
    Worn axle diff input bearings,
    Result of fitting a suspension lift kit (particularly on the front propshaft).

It might be that the replacing of all those drivetrain components have not caused this issue, but being new with less overall play now highlight that something else has or is coming to the end of its life.

Let the investigation commence... Thumbs Up

Thanks for input.I Tried to remove rear propshaft driving on front prop alone,it was perfekt ,no vibrations. Bought a new rear prop and fitted it .vibrations was back although not as bad .On rear propshaft alone a slight vibration.next I will get the wheels balanced and go on from there
