Not the dogs fault, its the owner.

Well a few years ago a family who gratefully live nowhere local now, had 2 overgrown rats. They often just let the dogs out to do their business. Now after collecting half a bucket full of dog mess, the female owner (I will not say lady owner) had a go at me for shooing overgrown rat out of our garden.
She got rather upset when I deposited her dogs mess on her doorstep. I am not a particular dog lover/hater however irresponsible dog owners I do object to. If they are too lazy to exerccise their dogs properly and clean up after their dogs they should not have dogs! I do not enjoy stepping in dog crap on our drive/garden!!! Brendan |

Are you certain it is dog-foul and not fox?
The reason I ask is that we have a coven of foxes near us and I often go out to find deposits in the garden. If you are certain it is a dog, and errant owner, why not buy a cheap wireless CCTV unit (one with motion censor) and record them doing it. Then present said evidence to the owner next time you see them. |

Is there a public right of way through your garden if not then the dog owner is trespassing.
As far as I am aware there is no safe deterrent that will prevent a dog fouling your drive and garden. This may sound obvious, nevertheless, if there is no ROW on your land the only option left for you is to secure your garden and drive with locked gates and fences. The only other option which in itself could be construed as anti-social is to pick up the mess in a bag and hang if, from the owner's car door mirror, that is if he has a car or instead place the bag or bags on his property. Well it does happen we have security cameras and other security measures which are monitored by a security company. Lets just say at 05.19 hrs on Monday things were triggered. Monday we had fresh snow and guess what footprints. This morning fresh footprints on our drive as it snowed overnight which stopped just short of the trigger point.
We have a snicket gate onto our drive and our neighbours have a legal right to inspect/repair their property which abuts our drive from our drive. They have no legal right to exercise themselves or their animals on our drive. Yes it will be padlocked from this evening. I wonder what range wild life cameras with flashes have? Will have to investigate. Brendan |

Fox excrement is the foulest smelling substance on earth! Sometimes my dogs love to roll in it and it stinks even after hosing them down, quick tip if your dog covers itself in Fox dirt then Tomato Ketchup gets rid of the smell don't ask me how it just does then wash the ketchup off. Ours love to roll in Fox poo, I don't know why.
Tomato ketchup works. Brendan I did mean video them. I thought you could get fined for not collecting dog deposits. I find smearing it under the car door handles works too. 110XS CSW TD5. |

If you know who it is, which it seems like you have a fairly good idea, just go and knock on their door and tell them to keep off your property.
Keep a phone/recorder in your pocket recording for any evidence. |

Fox poo is generally easy to tell from dog poo, since it generally has pinched ends which dog poo generally doesn't.
From first hand experience I can assure anyone who thinks that fox poo is bad that tiger poo is at least as bad and probably worse in term of odour and "clinginess"! |

I just have visions of another forum somewhere where someone has posted "my neighbour's cats always poo in our garden, what can I do about it ?" to which several of the replies suggested getting their dog to poo in the neighbours garden as a form of revenge ! The Tiger option sounds like a good plan although you will definitely need to train it to poo in their garden by the sounds of it if it's worse than fox poo  We also don't have anything in the club's camping code of conduct to cover tigers specifically so if you can forewarn us when you bring it we can make it an exercise area... which will pretty much be wherever it wants to go ! http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |
