Great progress Andrew, even if you’ve had a few problems along the way!

Looks like you will be on the road before March?

I managed to get a couple of hours on the series one this morning and had a better day.
Finished lining up the bulkhead with the aid of a ratchet strap, fitted front panel and connected up the rad.
Pulled off the steering linkages and removed the TRE’s, three were shouldered and one incorrect fully threaded one😱.
Stripped and painted the rods ready for the new ends.
Finally cave the fuel tank a quick brush off and a coat of paint. Not the best job but can’t be done when it’s in situ. Tank will need replacing in the next few years, it should buy me a bit more time.

I got chance to do a bit more work on the series 1 today.
The exhaust system is now back on and bolted up, complete with new back box to replace the one I trashed in a Welsh quarry a couple of years ago.
Both props went back on along with the front bumper and rear grab handles.
I was not intending to do any cosmetic work at this point, however I did tidy the front panel up a bit. It is steel on the later 88’s unlike the earlier models which have alloy front panels.
All was going well until I decided to refit the fuel tank, as I did up the last bolt it started to drip fuel on me🤬.
After quickly pulling it back out and inspecting it, I’m afraid it’s scrap.
I will borrow one from my son’s project for next weekend, and order a new one. Do I go for alloy or stainless?

I managed a few more hours in the workshop this morning, mainly doing little odds and ends( I didn’t realise how many brackets etc are bolted to the bulkhead)
I’m still trying to work out what to do with the fuel tank as it looks like they are made to order with 2 - 3 weeks lead time.
My sons tank also needs some work!
Glued the vent seals on, so will be able to fit the vents tomorrow.
The box of bits is getting smaller😊

Getting there Ian😊

I think I’ve got Tom’s tank sorted out for now and I think I will get a new repro one from Kyle Cooper.

Nice one, I don’t think you can go wrong with his Thumbs Up
I had one from Neil, but I think he’s slowed production down now?

Bet you can’t wait to get it dirty again! Laughing

If I make it to Priddy on Saturday we might have a bit of the white stuff, not sure about mud.

Once it’s back on the road I’ve got to keep it reasonably respectable until my daughters wedding in June, lol.

We’ve been struggling on with the rebuild his week, with Saturday’ deadline looming.
Not had much snow here but it’s bitterly cold working in an open fronted barn!
The vehicle is virtually complete now and we’ve had it running and driving using a gallon can.
Brakes are proving to be a nightmare, the remote servo is leaking so we bypassed it. Still not able to get a decent pedal, brake fluid is dirty and has air in it, so suspect seals in master cylinder.
New cylinder and servo coming tomorrow weather permitting and a friend is working on the spare ful tank, so looks like we will be taking it to the line on Friday 😄
I’ll let you know how we get on.

Well I’m afraid the weather put paid to our efforts to meet the deadline, however it looks like we have a second chance!
As one of the club reps organising the pub meet we made the decision yesterday to postpone the pub meet for two weeks as the pub is high up on the Mendips and was inaccessible due to the snow.
My parts didn’t arrive due to the weather conditions and as the thaw is underway here now I’m hoping they will arrive on Monday.
The spare tank now just needs cleaning internally and fitting.
Hopefully I will get a day on the 88 later in the week and have it on the road for a shakedown next weekend.

PVS lives again😄

Just had a quick blast around the field and all seems well.

Will post some more pics once I’ve tightened the shackles and put the grill and new canvas on at the weekend.

Well chuffed!
