What wheel is this and what option should I go for?
My son is doing up a N/A 2.5 90 and it currently has the following wheels on it
Loads to do on it, but as a surprise in the future, should i

A - get the current ones stripped, powder coated etc and resprayed white

B - sell the current ones and get him genuine wolfs in white

If B, what is a set of the current four worth against a new set of white OEM Wolfs?

Can't help with what that wheel is I'm afraid. Genuine wolfs are around £67 each or copies from £50 each. I'm not sure it's worth refurbishing, might as well buy new? Unless you want a non-standard colour? James

I may be wrong but it looks like a Discovery 1 steel wheel to me... Cheers Don.

Disco 1 steel wheels.

They look quite good painted and slightly different to Wolfs (which do look awesome!)

Yeah, D1 wheels. They're a good wheel - very strong - and 7 inch wide, too.

I had them fitted to a 110 years ago:

They used to be really common in D1 days when alloys were mainly a dealer fit option so the dealers had lots of these spare. I think I gave about £100 for a set of 5 back in the 90’s. Worth a little more than second hand tubeless Defender rims due to the width. So not really very much. If on a tight budget refurbish these. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

If I recall correctly the D1 steel wheel had a slightly reduced offset but it was negligible in use.

Agree about lots of them being surplus to requirements when the D1 was released (and people upgrading to alloys straight from the factory), dealers could hardly give the steels wheel away and I know of at least one person who was given them by the local dealer to save them having to scrap them (they went onto his S11 a treat). ONE LIFE, GET IT!

The wheels are going for 50-100 quid on eBay for a set

No, they're 33mm, the same as LR alloys. Darren

Yes I think they have. a 33mm offset, means that the back of the wheel is closer to the trailing arms than a 20mm offset, Then 0 mm offset means the wheels look deeper , then modulars are a negative offset, say -20mm , this means they stick out further. Did the Disco wheels and 235's reduce the steering lock by much?
