United States 1985 Defender 90 V8 Petrol SW Alpine White
‘85 Ninety V8...
All:

My Ninety was imported to the USA by the British Army, for one of its employees. He promptly had to sell it, so it came from Pennsylvania to Oregon via truck. Since then, I’ve done a lot to it- but I’m still only about half way done.

So far:

Swapped 3.5 & 5-speed for 3.9 & auto.
Swapped front axle for one from a ‘94 110 & the rear for one from a ‘96 Disco. So I now have disc brakes on both axles.
Fitted air conditioning
Swapped out the fron seats for Corbeau LG-1’s and the jump seats for ExMoor trim.
Sump guard
Custom A-bar built on an MOD bumper.
Billet aluminium wing vent covers
NAS-style rear step bumper
Full LED light conversion
Swapped the front doors for a set from a Puma.
Freestyle alloys with 265/75/16 BF Goodrich tyres
Masai roof rack

Planned:

5.3 ‘LS’ V8 & 6L80e transmission
Puma dash with double din console
New side windows
Galvanized bulkhead
Galvanized chassis
Bigger brakes
X-eng hand brake
Bigger radiator
New rear door
Extended radiator grille
Fuji white roof & Portofino/Arrow red body
Backup camera
Led flood lights on the back
Anti-sway bars front & rear
Padded rubber seatbox cover
New bonnet

Completely out of date, but here’s a quick video from the first summer I had it.

Nice early original V8, probably not that many as original as that in the UK.

It's a nice looking truck but I'm not sure about original given the new engine, gearbox, axles, doors, wheels and seats. Darren

It was pretty original when first acquired by the looks of it. Quite a rare thing if it was in the UK.

So if I understand this correctly, a vehicle must be 25 years old and pretty much all original before it can legally be imported into the USA? But once it’s there you can swap over just about every part of it and it’s still ok? Nice looking 90, and a good list of upgrades. Thumbs Up
