Right guys, as stated above i have a 2010 110 with 75000 on the clock. Its absolutely fine and normal just driving around the doors. Loads of power and acceleration. But, if i attempt to drive 8-10 miles the power and feel seems to tail off and disappear, by 12 miles it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. But let it cool down and its back to normal.

Sorry, i should have said. NO overheating, temp gauge normal, and no warning lights on the dash. Power fades away.

Try unplugging your MAF and giving it a test.

Cylinder Head Sensor will cut power if it detects over temperature. This will happen before the engine temperature gauge moves up and there are no fault codes.
When it happened to me I was able to drive from Scotland on the motorway at a steady 70(ish) because the engine was being almost air cooled. Off the motorway stop start driving lead to power loss. Turned out that I had a very small radiator leak and that topping the water up solved the problem short term. All very puzzling at the time as I was convinced that I'd filled up with some dirty diesel in the far north and the intermittent power loss was the result. Maybe that will help  |

Managed to get it plugged in, showed up a MAF fault and Turbo boost fault. Fingers crossed the former is causing the later. Tomorrow will tell.

MAF Sensor failure!!
Replaced and all sorted, back to normal. So treated the truck to a new set of discs and pads. So far in 8 years of ownership and 75000 miles, other than routine servicing, I have had to replace the clutch, EGR valve and now the MAF sensor. Not too bad, and all common TDCI faults. I'm well chuffed!! Cheers for the pointers Ben |

Well, latest update is, nothing so far seems to have worked.
It is fine driving around local country roads up and down hills, but hit a dual carrigeway/motorway and do 70-ish miles per hour for 10 miles or so and it goes into limp mode. NO lights on the dash. Turn off the engine and re-start and it resets itself. back to normal. MAF sensor and MAP sensors both replaced with genuine parts. EGR valve replaced in the last 18 months. intercooler pipe replaced as split. Shows fault codes P0234 Turbo/supercharger overboost condition P1103 Mass Air Flow Sensor in range but higher than expected Any ideas more than welcome. Cheers Steve |

16th Jan you indicated that it was the MAF, so how long did it work for?
I never wrote down the fault codes, but what you have there triggers memory of the fault descriptions I got when my MAF connector wasn't working, I think pin1 or pin4 wasn't connected. Quite simple to push back in to place, have you had a look at that? Or tried the full disconnect and drive to see if that helps again? The ECU is better suited to deal with the default (disconnected) values than spurious ones from connections that may not be fully seated once it warms up. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

It "seemed" to last for a couple of hundred miles, but on reflection that was just because i was driving locally on single carriageway roads. So it probably wasn't fixed at all. The MAF connector is one more thing to look at.

Hi fellow problem owner
Just had the same problem. Or i should say have had. Worth checking the harnas to the turbo. Mine failes also Then read the diagnostics whilst driving! It could be a temp problem which never shows on the gauge!!!!! And i mean never Then Check turbo. And that’s the costly one In the end i got it sorted but Made the modification to the wire harness Got the allisport radiator And got a new turbo Good luck a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |
