alarm bbus question
Hi first of all i am very much a motorcar electronics novice ....I ahave fitted and moved the bbus from the wing to the engine bay using matts at fcx extension loom ..my question to the electronic guru's on here is as i have aquired another cheap original bbus and to make the alarm louder is it possible to make an extension loom to fit here ......

thus splitting the loom and having two bbus in place ...or will this Censored the signal from the sensors to the bbus......if its possible does anyone know where i can get one male and two female connectors to fit the above socket?thanks in advance

I have fitted another bbus, located inside the engine compartment and left the original in place. However the original one is only there as a dummy decoy, it is not actually connected. I suspect there may be a conflict if you have both connected.

I'm sure some of our wizzkid electronics members on here may be able to give you an accurate technical explanation as to whether it's possible or not. Defender 90XS SW

Easy enough to find out, just try it and see. You won't do any damage by connecting two in parallel and it is highly likely that they will work as expected.

A more interesting question is whether the secondary one will continue to work properly if the primary one is nobbled, and this will largely depend on how the villains attack the primary sounder. If they are sophisticated and attack it electronically then they will probably (unwittingly) disable both at the same time. If they are nearer the pond-life end of the intelligence spectrum and simply smash the BBUS or use expanding foam on it, then the second sounder should be unaffected.

Some good points there Blackwolf. I'm currently working on the assumption that if they "disable" the dummy one behind the headlight they will assume that they are ok to do their scum duggery and will have a nasty surprise when the one in the engine sounds off. Defender 90XS SW

^^ I think that that is a very sensible approach.

I too have "done things" to my BBUS with the aim of making it more likely that it will make a lot of noise if the vehicle is interfered with, and making it less likely that a silent break-in can occur. I hope that i never find out how effective (or otherwise) these "things" are.
