Clutch change
Hi all.

Has anyone changed their clutch themselves? Mines slipping.

Is it doable on the drive? Any special tools needed?

Is it doable on the drive yes both of mine, one with flywheel and clutch and other one with clutch and R380 gear box overhaul and transfer box too, only special tools 2 ton engine lift and sling and clutch aliment tool

Definitely doable on the drive. Take your time, you'll have to deal with all the gearbox/transfer box lever linkages.

Engine crane works poked through the passenger door to lower the gearbox down, as does a trolley jack from underneath to take the weight of the assembly. The gearbox/transfer box assembly is heavy, unbalanced and awkward, be careful with it!

A slipping clutch can be caused by the rocker cover gasket leaking down the back of the block And getting onto the clutch. This happened on mine but I hadn't realised until the gearbox was off Big Cry

Not saying that's what's causing it but just my experience. Could have saved many hours work if I had realised earler. I changed everything anyway as it was apart but the clutch had loads of life left in it Crying or Very sad 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Ideally you want to change the DMF at the same time which is more involved as the box has to come out.
