My 6.5" Focals are mounted on the door cards with stand-off rings to accommodate the speaker depth, with the tweeters up high so as not to be obscured by your leg. The crossovers live behind the disconnected OE speakers in the td5 aircon dash extension. The JL Audio amp is in the driver's seat box and drives the Focals, with the Alpine head powering the rear speakers (currently a pair of Celestion SR Compacts until I get around to making something with another set of Focals to fit better behind the Double Cab rear seats).

It's not lacking bass but I'd like to add an under cubby sub in the future to give it an extra octave.

Was looking at these below to save hassle, did you flush mount yours?

There are spacers currently so I can live with the knees thing, not sure the ones above are angled though like the originals

They would do the job, although you'd probably find cheaper on the bay, halfrauds probably stock them too. I'd doubt you'd get angled like the originals. All my installs have been flush mount. Personal preference Thumbs Up

Cheers , I see mudstuff do some rear corner speaker panels that look good too.. I'll make a shopping list next month and keep you all updated. They also do a neat sub that fits under the cubby box in the middle Smile.

Looking at these speakers from JL audio as they give me flexibility on how I install them. Any ideas if there is enough room to hide the crossovers behind the speakers some where?

You can remove the end cap easily on passenger side. Drivers I did insitu. I used the new grill cover to position and mark the new hole size, small molegrips can hold it in place and marked with a sharpie pen. I have used a dremel to cut the extra out, and also stitched drilled along the new line. It's all pretty easy, just measure twice cut once. If you look in my gallery there's photos of the td5 and puma. There a few threads, look in the definitive ice section from thread. More than happy to talk through it Thumbs Up
Ps is yours a puma or TD5 as the puma I used a fein cutter as only plastic

Edging towards this flush mount method, I've made a few card template of speakers size and 116mm for the hole to get an idea. Did you cut the leather type dash material or stitch drill it along with the metal?

Might make more sense now Thumbs Up you can see the old footprint of the standard speaker and 2 fixing holes. But the hole has been cut for the new 5.25" speaker. In this case the orientation is across to the left, however it works better moving then up towards the windscreen, allowing maximum clearance from the bulkhead
